Chantal Eco | Multimedia Journalist

Follow me on social media:

Hi! I’m Chantal Eco, a Filipina multimedia journalist and documentary filmmaker. I produce stories and documentary films on the environment, agriculture, human rights, children’s issues and the struggles of Filipino workers, peasants, and indigenous peoples.

I was selected as one of the Asian Young Curators in 2016 at the 4th Arkipel Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival for the curation titled “Land, Life, and Struggle.” This collection of films portrays the struggles of indigenous peoples in the Philippines.

In 2022, the documentary I directed “Bayi: Stories of Women Human Rights Defenders” which was produced by human rights group Karapatan and Tanggol Bayi was a finalist in the documentary category for the 34th Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video.

I was one of the cohorts of Thibi and the Earth Journalism Network’s Environmental Data Journalism Academy in the Philippines in 2023. This intensive program focuses on working with data and uncovering new insights to produce data-driven and visually appealing climate and environmental stories.

After 15 years of working with the Philippine community and alternative media, I now contribute stories to DW and LiCAS News. I also freelance as cinematographer, camera operator, photographer, and video editor.

On the side, I also develop WordPress websites for non-profit organizations, artists, and journalists.

If you’re looking to bring your stories, videos, or websites to life, I’d love to collaborate! Drop me a line at info@chantaleco.com to discuss your project ideas.
